Hidden Handbrake BMW E36

Vertical hydraulic handbrake with removable handle, designed for left hand drive BMW E36, LHD. It provides a hydraulic handbrake that is always available without compromising the original look of the interior. The screw off handle can be removed when not in use, keeping the cabin clean, discreet and tidy.

Description and details

• Installs on the 3 original holes of the centre tunnel, with no welding, drilling, tunnel cutting or new brackets required.
• Kit designed to minimise interference with the interior components of the cabin.
• Lever made of high quality TPU, ergonomic and comfortable.
• Handle mounted on 2RS bearings to eliminate unwanted play.
• Adjustment system that limits the travel of the master cylinder piston, useful in critical situations to protect the master cylinder.
• Powder coated semi gloss black structure, ready for installation.
• Base with dedicated hole for the gear lever, compatible with the most common short shifters (base hole diameter 120 mm).
• Body designed to accept different brake master cylinders available on the market.
• Available in variants with different master cylinder bore sizes or without master cylinder.

In approximately 5 seconds, the lever can be removed and the cover fitted, completely hiding the hydraulic handbrake.

Warning

• Reverse gear can only be engaged if all connection components between the gearbox and the gear lever are in perfect condition. Bushings, selector washers and linkage components should be in optimal condition.
• Not compatible with BMW E36 Compact, due to the different position of the heating unit and the different shape of the centre tunnel.
• With automatic climate control, the climate control unit may interfere with installation.

Choosing the master cylinder bore size

The choice of master cylinder bore size directly affects the feel and effectiveness of the handbrake.

• 0.625 (5/8) master cylinder: longer lever travel, more progressive feel, ideal for control and modulation, especially with standard calipers or road and track day setups.
• 0.7 (7/10) master cylinder: shorter travel, more immediate and aggressive braking, requires more force on the lever, recommended for competitive drift, upgraded calipers or dedicated brake setups.
