Hidden Handbrake BMW E46

Vertical hydraulic handbrake with removable handle, designed for left hand drive BMW E46, LHD. It provides a hydraulic handbrake that is always available without compromising the original look of the interior. The screw off handle can be removed when not in use, keeping the cabin clean, discreet and tidy.

Description and details

• Installs on the original mounting points of the centre tunnel, with no welding, drilling or additional brackets required.
• Kit designed to minimise interference with the interior components of the cabin.
• Lever made of high quality TPU, ergonomic and comfortable.
• Handle mounted on 2RS bearings to eliminate unwanted play.
• Adjustment system that limits the travel of the master cylinder piston, useful in critical situations to help protect the master cylinder itself.
• Powder coated semi gloss black structure, ready for installation.
• Base with dedicated hole for the gear lever, compatible with the most common short shifters (base hole diameter 108 mm).
• Body designed to accept different brake master cylinders available on the market.
• Available in variants with different master cylinder bore sizes or without master cylinder.

In approximately 5 seconds, the lever can be removed and the cover fitted, completely hiding the hydraulic handbrake.

Important warnings

• This hydraulic handbrake may not work correctly with the original gear selector. When engaging reverse gear, the gear lever may interfere with the handle.
• Engaging reverse gear may be difficult, therefore the use of at least a reduced throw short shifter is recommended.
• Correct operation strongly depends on the condition of the bushings, washers and gear linkage components.

Choosing the master cylinder bore size

The choice of master cylinder bore size directly affects the feel and effectiveness of the handbrake.

• 0.625 (5/8): for vehicles with standard calipers and engines up to 323i.
• 0.7 (7/10): for vehicles with standard calipers and engines from 325i upwards. It can also be used on less powerful versions, with reduced travel and greater force required on the lever.
• BMW E46 M3: the version without master cylinder is recommended, together with a master cylinder with a 0.75 piston.
